Our church by-laws.


ARTICLE I - Name

The corporate name of this church is: Chinese Evangel Mission Church of Queens.

ARTICLE II - Membership

2.1 Qualifications and Application - Upon formal application, a person will be admitted into the membership of this church if he or she publicly professes faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and has been baptized by water. Persons baptized at this church shall automatically be received into membership.

2.2 Voting Rights - All regular members, eighteen (18) years of age or older, shall be eligible to vote on matters of church business at duly called meetings of the membership.

Regular members are defined as those who attend the Sunday Services of this church regularly and are active in its ministry.

A regular member not attending any church service for a period of one year may be declared an inactive member without voting rights at the discretion of the Board.

A regular member who cannot attend a duly-called meeting of the membership at which a vote will be taken may request an absentee ballot. The request must be made, in writing, at least one week in advance of the vote and must be received at the church by the time of voting for tabulation.

ARTICLE III - Church Board

The Church Board shall consist of six (6) members. The three (3) year term of service for the Church Board shall be arranged on a rotational basis so that two (2) members will be elected each year. Church board members may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms (six years) after which a period of one year must elapse before he/she can be eligible again for selection.
Persons designated for selection as Church Board members shall: 1. Be a regular member. 2. Demonstrate qualities of spiritual maturity as set forth in I Timothy 3:1-7, and I Peter 5:1-4.
ARTICLE IV - Selection of Church Board Members

4.1 A nominating committee shall announce and post names of candidates four (4) weeks prior to selection.
4.2 Church Board members may be selected either by plurality of the votes cast or by lot at an annual meeting held in March of each year. If by lot, candidates must be pre-approved by the congregation by majority vote.
4.3 If a board member is not able to fulfill his/her term of service, he/she shall be replaced by the next runner-up. If the original board member was chosen by lot, the replacement shall be chosen by lot from the remaining pre-approved candidates. The replacement will serve the remainder of the term of service.
